In this article, I’m going to discuss a few reasons why is important right now to analyse the effect of the lockdown.
Firstly, instead of following false claims, we should focus our efforts in something else. Try to understand the reasons why, in 2020, a future pandemic is likely to emerge and whether or not we can cope with it.
Secondly, there is no doubt that the unbridled race from the end of the war to today has led the humanity, in every latitude to the planet, to lose sight of the real values of life. In particularly what was essential and what was less critical.
Determining the origins and emergence of a pandemic is crucial.
Viruses are an integral part of life, and we have forgotten about these things.
Thirdly, we are too distracted by the arrival of a new television to watch sport in the best possible way from the sofa at home.
Also, and most important, we got distracted by political leaders who speak of immigration as devastating our lives. The same politicians who forget to speak (and propose “solutions”) concerning science, health, or the improvement of the hospitals.
Those don’t count. For decades, as been a minimal issue in political manifesto.
But now we can’t close our eyes.
The number of deaths caused by Covid-19 is impressive. So, it is the number of people who will have their lives marked forever by the consequences of the Virus.
Some will suffer physically from the disease, but others are losing their jobs and will have to redesign themselves a different role in life.
Moreover, the number of unemployed is complicated to calculate now. It does not take long to understand that the size will be very impressive. As soon as it is possible to take count of the situation, we will be terrified.
Businesses have reopened across Europe, some for nearly two months. It is not good anywhere. You see people around, but nowhere near the numbers of a year ago.
People have changed.
There are two factions: those who want to return to live as before, without changing anything and those who want to take the opportunity for change they priorities in this “new” life.
An investigation in the U.K. tells us that only 6% want to return to pre-COVID life.
A number that forces us to reflect and should make everyone think, even those who do not want to give up and pretend that nothing is as before, that the revolution is underway.
Those who do not notice it will be lost forever.
In conclusion, better to keep open your eyes now. Very wide open.
What if the man of the future, the one to take inspiration from, is Karl Marx?
Hear the echo of my mind
Hear the echo of my mind. It is the summer of 2026, and that sentence still works as a compass: when the noise outside becomes too loud, my mind is the only place where I can hear what I really want. Six years after the world stopped and started again, my mind has learned one…
“Anything is possible, but I’m not sure we will like it” — live music after lockdown, six years on
“So many things are possible just as long as you don’t know they’re impossible.” — Norton Juster Dushanbe, July 2026 There are events that, for one reason or another, I had forgotten or removed from my head — and for me one of those forgotten boxes was full of live music. Let’s say that maybe,…
