🇬🇧 English – Translation In 1974, the Nobel Prize was jointly awarded to two Swedish authors: Eyvind Johnson, an epic chronicler of individual freedom, and Harry Martinson, a poet of nature and the cosmic human condition.
Johnson was honored “for a narrative rich in wide horizons and freedom of art,” and Martinson “for writing that captures the dewdrop and reflects the cosmos.” Johnson (1900–1976) stood out for historical novels like The Days of Olof, while Martinson (1904–1978), author of Aniara, was also a member of the Academy that awarded the prize.
