Travel: In Piedmont Easter is different

Easter in Piedmont, a region in northwest Italy, is celebrated with various traditions that reflect the area’s rich cultural heritage. Some of the most popular Easter traditions in Piedmont include:

Holy Week processions: The week leading up to Easter is marked by processions and religious events in many towns and cities throughout Piedmont.

Easter bread: Piedmontese Easter bread include “pan di ramerino“, a sweet bread with raisins and rosemary, and “La Colomba”, a version of the popular Christmas cake called “Panettone”.

Easter eggs: In Piedmont, as in many parts of Italy, chocolate eggs filled with surprises or small toys are a popular Easter treat for children.

Tasting events: Many towns and villages in Piedmont host food and wine tasting events over the Easter weekend, showcasing local delicacies such as agnolotti (pasta stuffed with meat), bagna cauda (a hot dip made with garlic, anchovies, and olive oil), and wines from the region’s famous vineyards.

These are just a few examples of the Easter traditions in Piedmont, but they give an idea of the rich cultural heritage that is celebrated during this important holiday.
