Otto, a new smart bar in Cagliari

Here’s an innovative concept for cocktails and mocktails: at Via Garibaldi 76 in Cagliari, the new venture by well-known local bartender Antonio Varotto has just opened—Otto.

The cocktails and alcohol-free mocktails are designed “to go.” They are freshly prepared on the spot and served in convenient takeaway cups that are 100% compostable—making them a sustainable choice. The cups are practical and transparent, with a lid featuring a central opening for a straw, so you can easily sip your drink while shopping or grabbing a slice of pizza.

There’s also an interesting deposit-return scheme: customers who bring back at least 10 used cups to Otto receive a complimentary cocktail. It’s a smart way to encourage more mindful consumption and discourage littering—known locally in Cagliari as s’aliga—around the city (it would be great if more venues in Cagliari adopted this approach).

Open since Saturday, April 25, Otto is already becoming a small hotspot along one of the city’s main shopping streets. Drinks are priced between €7 and €8, while signature cocktails cost €9.

Kuddu Golden Ale beer is available on tap at a special price, and Aperol Spritz is on promotion at €4.

The menu is seasonal: in a few weeks, the drink selection will change with the arrival of summer—featuring new fruits, different spices, and updated bases better suited to warm weather and a holiday mood.
