Appetitosamente Festival in Siddi on October 25, with Filippo Graziani among the highlights

A day of music, food, archaeology, art and Sardinian traditions in the heart of Marmilla

The village of Siddi, in the heart of Sardinia’s Marmilla region, will host the 19th edition of the Appetitosamente Festival on Sunday, October 25, bringing together music, food, archaeology, art, storytelling and local traditions for a full day of cultural experiences.

Among the highlights of the programme is Filippo Graziani, who will perform at 4:00 p.m. in an acoustic duo at the extraordinary Sa Domu ’e s’Orcu Giants’ Tomb, one of the most evocative archaeological sites in the area.

This year’s festival explores the ancient relationship between food and the cult of the dead, a theme deeply rooted in Sardinian culture. Food has long played a role in rituals and traditions associated with remembrance: pasta, legumes, sweets, fruit, bread and wine accompany ceremonies, offerings and shared meals. Through these practices, food becomes a way of remembering those who have passed away and preserving a connection between generations.

A day of walking, music and food

The festival will open at 8:00 a.m. in Piazza L. Da Vinci, with the official welcome and opening of the event.

At 8:15 a.m., visitors can join “Camminare con gusto” (“Walking with Taste”), a walk from the village to the Sa Domu ’e s’Orcu Giants’ Tomb and back.

At 9:30 a.m., the archaeological site will host “Colazione da… l’Orco!”. The Morti Candu Bolis project by Francesco Meda Arrogalla, Lia Careddu and Carlo Spiga Makika will bring together electronic music, launeddas, guitars and vocals. The performance will be followed by su murzu, a traditional Sardinian mid-morning meal.

At 11:30 a.m., Casa Steri will host “Gesti rituali” (“Ritual Gestures”), an exploration of customs, stories and food traditions connected with the cult of the dead, accompanied by guided tastings.

The workshop will be led by cultural anthropologist and journalist Alessandra Guigoni, together with Le Signore della pasta di Siddi, Luciana Baso of Sardinian winery Quartomoro, and a vice-delegate in Sardinia of the national association Le Donne del Vino.

Also beginning at 11:30 a.m., “Cibo e memoria” (“Food and Memory”) will offer an immersive sensory journey through the village, combining discoveries, storytelling and live itinerant music. The project, curated by Officine Sonore Associazione Culturale, will unfold in three locations: the Parish Church at 11:30 a.m., the Church of San Michele at noon, and Piazza L. Da Vinci at 12:30 p.m.

Throughout the late morning, visitors will also be able to explore “Menu conPosti”, a widespread food programme taking place in the village’s streets, gardens, homes and parks. A range of dishes and experiences will be offered at different price points, using high-quality local and seasonal ingredients. Traditional recipes will sit alongside more experimental interpretations of Sardinian cuisine.

Filippo Graziani at Sa Domu ’e s’Orcu

At 4:00 p.m., Filippo Graziani will take the stage at the Sa Domu ’e s’Orcu Giants’ Tomb for an intimate acoustic duo performance.

The son of legendary Italian singer-songwriter Ivan Graziani, Filippo began performing professionally with his brother Tommy shortly after turning 18, playing clubs and venues across Italy. In 2008, he founded the band Carnera and later spent time in the United States before returning to Italy and launching the project Filippo canta Ivan Graziani.

The resulting live album was a finalist for the 2011 Targa Tenco in the Best Performer category. In 2014, Graziani competed in the Newcomers section of the Sanremo Music Festival with Le cose belle, the title track of an album that went on to win the Targa Tenco for Best Debut Album.

In 2024, he released Per gli amici, an album built around eight previously unreleased songs by his father. The release was followed by the extensive Filippo canta Ivan – Per gli amici tour, which featured around 200 performances.

In 2025, Filippo Graziani marked the 80th anniversary of his father’s birth with the special tour “Ottanta. Buon compleanno Ivan!”

The festival continues into the evening

Following the concert, the festival will return to the centre of Siddi.

At 6:30 p.m., “Parata delle anime” (“Parade of Souls”) will lead visitors on an evocative journey through food and free spirits, curated by Officine Sonore in collaboration with the local community.

At 7:00 p.m., “Mangia come parli” will offer a communal tasting of traditional Sardinian and Siddi foods traditionally enjoyed outside regular mealtimes, curated by the Siddi Pro Loco Tourist Association.

The festival will conclude at 8:00 p.m. with final greetings and “Saludi e trigu”.

Discovering Siddi and the Marmilla

Founded in 2006, Appetitosamente was created to celebrate the food and wine traditions of the Siddi community while using food as a lens through which to explore culture, identity, landscape, the environment and ways of life.

The festival’s open-air, village-wide format also gives visitors the opportunity to discover the historical, artistic, archaeological and natural heritage of Siddi and the surrounding Marmilla region.

Throughout the day, a market featuring local producers and artisans from Siddi and across Sardinia will be open to visitors. Art trails, installations and projections will animate the streets of the historic centre, while several of the area’s key cultural and natural attractions will be open to the public.

These include the mysterious Church of San Michele, the Parish Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, Casa Steri and its Museum of Sardinian Agro-Food Traditions, the Sardinian Ornithological Museum, the Sa Fogaia Archaeological and Nature Park, and the Sa Domu ’e s’Orcu Giants’ Tomb.

Appetitosamente 2026 is organized by the Municipality of Siddi, the Appetitosamente 2021 Committee, Cooperativa Villa Silli and the Pro Loco, in collaboration with the Siddi community, professionals and specialists, local producers, volunteers and associations.

In case of rain, all events will move indoors to the former Puddu Pasta Factory in Siddi, subject to available capacity.
